DOCTOR WHO

I want to talk about my favourite TV series, Doctor Who. Doctor Who is a British TV series which is broadcasted on BBC. Its type is science fiction. One of the most important features it has is that it is the longest-running science fiction television show in the world and the most successful science fiction series of all time as the Guinness World Records listed. It is first introduced on 23 November 1963 and it has been broadcasted since then. There are thirty-two seasons in total. 25 seasons of them are called "Classical Series" and 7 of them are called "Modern Series." I will talk about the plot which is definitely fascinating. The Doctor, main character, is a Time Lord. He is also the last one of the Time Lords. He has a TARDIS which is a machine travels in time and space. It stands for Time And Relative Dimension(s) In Space. TARDIS is bigger one the inside, which is a specialty of the Time Lords. It looks like a blue police box from outside as a camouflage tactic. The Doctor is almost immortal. Every Time Lord can regenerate, so can the Doctor. Regenerating means that a Time Lord comes back to life as a new person changing his appearance completely when it is time to die for him. Although they can continue living thanks to the regeneration, this process is very hard and painful because it leads to a change in their characteristics in addition to their appearance. The Doctor doesn't like to travel alone. He always has a Companion, especially a human Companion, because he loves humans and their humanistic features. He always appreciates them. He also loves earth and protects it from the possible threats and invasions. The Companions who travel with the Doctor experience such unbelievable adventures that they never want it to end. However, it ends because either something bad which makes them leave happened to them, or the Doctor just leaves them. The Doctor never travels with a Companion so long because he is so sentimental and he cannot stand seeing their getting old and death.

VİDEO REFLECTION

I chose this video because it shows most of the things I have just mentioned. This is the 11th Doctor. He has just regenerated. And there is a possible threat for earth. That big eye you see in the video comes to earth for looking for a prisoner and it threatens the earth to burn it all down if the prisoner is not given back. However, the earthlings, of course, have no idea about what it mentions. And that is where the Doctor becomes a part of the solution as always. He simply introduces himself as saying "Hello, I'm the Doctor. Basically... Run." I forgot to mention about his funny side. Oh, he has the most ridiculous sense of homour, which makes me laugh to death all the time. In this video, we also see a little bit of his sarcastic remarks. In the end of the video, we see the TARDIS, the blue box. The Doctor and the TARDIS has an interesting relationship. I do not want to give spoiler, but if you want to learn this relationship, you can watch the fourth episode of the sixth season of the modern series. It is explained in that episode. I definitely recommend you to watch this series. You will have a different vision of life after watching it. Have a nice travel. :)

1. When I first heard that I had been accepted to Middle East Technical Unıversity, I was disappointed because I did not like Ankara as a city, but my opinions have changed over time dramatically because Middle East Technical Unıversity is really a different world in Ankara.
2. It has been only one month since I came here, but I got used to this environment because, first of all, people from all ages in here respect to each other.
3. I love Ankara, my dormitory, my new friends, and my department. I am content with everything which belongs to METU.
4. If someone wants to walk , he or she can go and walk, and also it is a nice place to go and meet with friends.
5. We can easily see this by watching TV, surfing on the internet or maybe just looking around us. Despite the fact that there are many people who are graduated from different kinds of universities, they're not even able to know what's going on around them or they don't even try to find good ways to improve the countries that they live in.

I Brain ODTÜ

I love the latest slogan- I Brain ODTÜ so much. Moreover, before we learned the results of university examination, before I learned that I'm going to be one of the Metu students, I was using this slogan when we were just sitting and chatting with friends.

It's effective, because it is something true. "I think of ODTÜ. I'm thinking, just like the other people at Metu. I'm one of them. And we all have something to say about anything. And we all support each other's view. We are a union. We are from Metu. We are different." I think, the slogan has this meaning. "We are here together, and we always will." This is important.
Being here makes me happy, proud, and strong. I can feel the bond. And that's where I get the strenght.

If I was to design the right slogan for my university, for Metu, I would choose "I Brain ODTÜ." Because I don't think there is any other appropriate slogan for Metu. "I Brain ODTÜ" is the best one, I think. It symbolizes the spirit of Metu with such suitable words that I can't think of something else. Congratulations to whom designed this slogan. They made a very good job. I love it. And I don't think that there is someone who doesn't like it.

An Ideal University

A university should have some features. I mean, there are a lot of universities in Turkey, or in the world, but few of them can offer you the opportunities that a university should do. For example, the instructors should be followers of the recent developments. They shouldn't be behind of the progress as a university teacher.
And there is a feature that is not about university, but I think this is a must. I think the university students must be conscious. They must be aware of the things that are happening around them. That's one of the important
characteristics that a university student must have.
And Metu is the ideal university for me. Because I can find the thing that I'm looking for. There are a lot of things that a university should have, but how the students think, how their mind works is the most important one, I think. I love being here. Thanks to all the features Metu has.

Being A Student At METU

I'm very happy to be here. We have the opportunities Metu offers us. And it is not limited in just academic opportunities. For example, I love fencing. And I can learn it here. I don't know any other universities that has a fencing club. This is a very small example of our possible chances at Metu.
Apart from this, Metu is a widely known university. Everybody knows that it is hard to study here. And that makes me nervous because I don't like studying hard, and I don't know how to do actually. But I'll learn probably, or I'm going to be here forever. So I have to learn it. :)
Oh, there is one thing I'm not that content with. The bunks. The bunks in the dormitories. They are too old to be used. I'm so uncomfortable that I cannot sleep properly. But in this subject, there's nothing I can do except for waiting.
And that's all for now. I love Metu whether it is hard to study, or not. I love Metu whether the bunks are too old, or not. It is good to be here. And I think it is a privilege to be here.

Brand New

This is a new life. New place, new friends, new school, new home. Everything is brand new. Is that hard to get accustommed to this new things? Yes, little bit. But, not impossible. This is the very beginning of our own time. And we're alone now. With all the possible problems. And we're gonna make it. :)
